Amit Shah Assures Thorough Probe into Santosh Deshmukh Murder Case

Union Home Minister Responds to Supriya Sule's Call for Justice in Beed Sarpanch's Killing

Breaking News

In a significant development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule of a comprehensive investigation into the murder of Massajog village sarpanch, Santosh Deshmukh. Deshmukh was brutally killed on December 9, 2024, after allegedly opposing an extortion attempt targeting an energy firm in Maharashtra’s Beed district.

Despite the arrest of seven individuals in connection with the case, key suspect Krushna Andhale remains at large. This has prompted Sule to criticize local authorities for their inability to apprehend all involved parties. She has also questioned the Enforcement Directorate’s inaction against accused Walmik Karad under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, given his alleged involvement in the extortion case linked to Deshmukh’s murder.

In response to these concerns, the Maharashtra government has reconstituted the Special Investigation Team to ensure a more effective probe. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the police to attach properties of absconding suspects and revoke gun licenses of individuals in Beed district seen brandishing firearms on social media.

The murder has ignited a political storm in Maharashtra, with allegations linking state minister Dhananjay Munde to the crime through his associate, Walmik Karad. Sule’s engagement with Amit Shah underscores the escalating demand for justice and a thorough investigation into the case.
