Andrew Garfield has set the record straight regarding rumours of his involvement in Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man 4. The actor, who played Spider-Man in The Amazing Spider-Man series, denied speculation that he would appear alongside Tom Holland in the upcoming film.

In an interview with GQ UK, Garfield addressed the rumours head-on, acknowledging that his previous denial of appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home—only to make a surprise cameo alongside Tobey Maguire—had made it hard for fans to trust anything he says now. “I’m gonna disappoint you. Yeah, no. But I know no one’s going to trust anything I say from now on,” he remarked with a smile.

Despite putting to rest the current rumours, Garfield did not entirely rule out future franchise appearances. He hinted that if a project aligned with his personal values and was enjoyable, he could be open to returning. “Maybe I’m going to have like five kids at some point, and I’m gonna need to start saving up for the school tuition or something,” he quipped.

Garfield first portrayed Spider-Man in 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man, followed by The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014. His return to the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) surprised fans when he joined Maguire for a multiverse storyline.

In Spider-Man 4, Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker, with Zendaya returning as MJ. Filming is expected to begin in the summer of 2025, with the release scheduled for July 24, 2026.
