Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have officially finalized their divorce, bringing an end to an intense and lengthy legal battle that lasted over eight years. The former Hollywood power couple reached a settlement on December 30, 2024, officially concluding their divorce proceedings.
Jolie’s divorce lawyer, James Simon, spoke to the Daily Mail, expressing that the actress feels both relief and exhaustion. “Frankly, Angelina is exhausted,” Simon stated, highlighting the toll the prolonged process has taken on her. Jolie had initially filed for divorce in September 2016, and since then, she has focused on healing and maintaining stability for their six children—Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox.
Despite the divorce being finalized, Pitt and Jolie remain embroiled in a legal dispute over their shared vineyard, Chateau Miraval, in France. Pitt claims that Jolie sold her stake in the winery to the Stoli Group without his consent. Both parties have expressed interest in resolving the issue through mediation, although a jury trial remains a possibility.
A source close to Jolie shared that the actress has been trying to remain upbeat despite the dark times. “She doesn’t speak ill of him publicly or privately,” the source noted, adding that Jolie’s focus remains on advocating for change, with an emphasis on supporting her children’s emotional well-being.
The couple’s tumultuous relationship began in the early 2000s, with Jolie filing for divorce two years after their marriage. Allegations of a troubling incident on a private plane, involving Pitt’s alleged physical abuse, surfaced around the time of the divorce filing. Jolie and Pitt were legally declared single in 2019.
Pitt, who has been open about his struggles, including quitting drinking and seeking therapy, has also moved on romantically, with his current relationship with jewelry designer Ines de Ramon, whom he has been seeing for nearly two years.
