Arvind Kejriwal Responds to Amit Shah’s Criticism Ahead of Delhi Elections

He also alleged that Kejriwal had failed to deliver on his promise of a corruption-free Delhi

As the Delhi assembly elections draw near, the political battle between Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Union Home Minister Amit Shah intensifies. On Saturday, Kejriwal hit back at Shah’s sharp criticism, accusing the BJP leader of resorting to personal attacks instead of focusing on developmental issues for Delhi.

Kejriwal took to social media, expressing his frustration with Shah’s recent remarks. “Today, Amit Shah came to Delhi, abused me, and left. Will Delhi develop by abusing me?” Kejriwal posted on platform X. He further questioned the BJP’s approach, stating, “They have neither a plan nor a vision for Delhi. If they have nothing else to offer, why not just replicate the facilities we are providing?” The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader also claimed that the BJP’s campaign is already in disarray, saying, “BJP has surrendered. BJP’s election is over.”

Kejriwal’s comments came after a series of attacks from Amit Shah, who criticized the Delhi Chief Minister during a recent BJP event. Shah first took aim at Kejriwal during the launch of the party’s “Sankalp Patra” (manifesto), where he accused the Delhi government of making unfulfilled promises. “Since 2014, Narendra Modi ji has set the standard for politics of performance in India, and in every election, the BJP has worked towards fulfilling its promises. Kejriwal’s government in Delhi makes promises but fails to deliver and then misleads the public with false claims. I’ve never seen someone lie so blatantly in my political career,” Shah stated.

Shah’s criticism didn’t stop at the manifesto release. At a rally in Rajouri Garden, he once again targeted Kejriwal, accusing him of spreading lies. Shah stated that PM Modi has assured that no existing welfare schemes for the poor in Delhi will be discontinued, but Kejriwal is misleading the people by spreading falsehoods. I repeat, the BJP will not stop any schemes meant for the welfare of the poor,” Shah declared.

He also alleged that Kejriwal had failed to deliver on his promise of a corruption-free Delhi, referencing the controversial liquor scam. Shah accused Kejriwal of promising a corruption-free Delhi but being involved in a liquor scam worth crores.

Shah continued his attack by outlining the BJP’s goals for Delhi, which include cleaning up the city, removing the AAP government, and ensuring a stable water supply. He urged voters to support BJP’s mission to make Delhi the “number one capital in the world” and appealed for a win for Modi in the upcoming elections.

Voters will cast their ballots in the Delhi assembly elections on February 5, and the results will be announced on February 8. As the political temperature rises, both leaders continue to exchange sharp words, making the contest in Delhi even more heated. The outcome of this election will not only determine the future of Delhi’s governance but also set the stage for the next phase of Indian politics ahead of the national elections.
