Asaduddin Owaisi Criticizes Allahabad High Court Judge for Attending VHP Event

Owaisi Raises Concerns Over Justice's Remarks on Majoritarian Rule and Judicial Impartiality

Breaking News

All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi has strongly criticized Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav of the Allahabad High Court for attending a recent Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) meeting in Prayagraj and for his remarks suggesting India functions as per the majority’s wishes.

Justice Yadav’s controversial statement during the meeting, “This is Hindustan (India), this country would function as per the wishes of the majority,” has raised concerns about judicial impartiality and independence. Owaisi expressed disapproval, asserting that the Constitution of India is democratic, not majoritarian, and safeguards the rights of minorities.

Posting on X, Owaisi remarked, “The VHP was banned on various occasions and is associated with RSS, a force historically linked to hate and violence. It’s unfortunate that a High Court judge would attend their meeting, jeopardizing judicial neutrality.” He further questioned the ability of minority groups to expect fair treatment under such circumstances, highlighting concerns about the collegium system and its role in judicial appointments.

Justice Yadav’s participation at the VHP’s legal cell convention and his support of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) have only intensified scrutiny over the judiciary’s role in political discourse. Owaisi’s statement underscores a call for the judiciary to maintain constitutional neutrality and refrain from engaging with politically charged organizations.

The issue raises significant questions about judicial credibility and the balance between personal beliefs and constitutional duties. The public awaits further clarity on these developments as the debate continues.
