New Delhi — On the auspicious occasion of Sushruta Jayanti, Shri Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush, inaugurated the third national conference ‘Shalyacon 2025’ at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi. Organized by the Department of Shalya Tantra, AIIA, in collaboration with the National Sushruta Association (NSA), the two-day event formed part of the 25th Annual Conference of NSA, celebrating innovation, standardization, and collaboration in Ayurvedic surgical practices.
Over 500 Experts and Global Participants Join Hands for Ayurvedic Advancement
The conference brought together over 500 participants, including Ayurvedic scholars, surgeons, researchers, academicians, and students from across India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. With the theme “Innovation, Integration, and Inspiration,” the conference aimed to catalyze transformation in Shalya Tantra (Ayurvedic surgery) through research, technological integration, and skill development.
Government Emphasis on Research, Standardization & Global Recognition
Addressing the gathering, Shri Prataprao Jadhav emphasized that Ayurvedic surgical research and standardization must be prioritized to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of globalizing Ayurveda. He remarked,
“Through scientific inquiry and global collaboration, we can establish Ayurveda as a credible and evidence-based system of medicine. The Government has already authorized Ayurvedic surgeons to perform 39 surgical procedures and 19 additional operations, furthering the vision of integrative healthcare.”
The Minister also stressed on the standardization of surgical protocols, ensuring the safety, efficacy, and scalability of Ayurvedic surgeries worldwide.

He mentioned the deployment of indigenous chatbots, the Ayush Master App, and integration with 22+ digital platforms like AHMIS and Namaste Yoga.

Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Badwe, Organizing Chairman, shared that AIIA now handles over 2,000 patients daily, and the Shalya Tantra department regularly performs a wide range of surgeries, reinforcing Ayurveda’s role in modern surgical care.

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) was established in 2017, modeled on the lines of AIIMS, and inaugurated on the 2nd Ayurveda Day by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It is a NABH-accredited, tertiary-level hospital and post-graduate training and research institution under the Ministry of Ayush. To date, AIIA has treated more than 30 lakh patients, offering a holistic, integrative approach to healthcare through Ayurveda.
