MUMBAI: Maharashtra minister and Shiv Sena leader Bharat Gogawale clarified that senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal’s exclusion from the state cabinet is purely an internal matter of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and not linked to the ruling Mahayuti coalition.

Addressing reporters on Sunday, Gogawale stated, “Just as the Shiv Sena and BJP exercise discretion in selecting ministers, the NCP has the autonomy to make its own decisions. Others should refrain from commenting on this matter.”

Bhujbal, a prominent figure in Maharashtra politics, was left out during the recent cabinet expansion. Reports suggest Bhujbal has expressed disappointment, attributing his exclusion to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s influence. Bhujbal reportedly discussed his concerns with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who assured him that the issue would be reviewed.

The decision has sparked discontent within the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community, a significant voter base that Bhujbal represents. The NCP leadership has remained tight-lipped about the reasons behind his omission.

This development continues to stir discussions within the Mahayuti coalition and beyond, highlighting the intricate dynamics of Maharashtra’s political landscape.
