NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging that the ruling party has neglected Delhi’s slum areas, leading to deteriorating living conditions. During a series of protests across the city, BJP leaders highlighted issues such as inadequate sanitation, poor infrastructure, and lack of basic amenities in these communities.
During a protest in Govindpuri, South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri stated, “There are no proper roads, sanitation, or drinking water facilities. Residents of these slums are deprived of basic amenities.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah criticized the AAP government, asserting that Delhi has been transformed into a “dirty water pond” under its administration. He emphasized the unfulfilled promises made to various groups, including slum dwellers, and urged residents to vote for change in the upcoming elections.
In response, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP of planning to demolish slums to benefit builders, urging slum residents to be cautious of such intentions.
As the political discourse intensifies ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, the condition of the city’s slums remains a focal point of debate between the two major parties.
