BJP Criticizes AAP for ‘Anarchic’ Protest Outside Delhi CM’s Residence

The clash between AAP and the BJP continues to stoke tensions, with both sides vying for control of the narrative leading into the upcoming election.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) following a standoff between its leaders and Delhi Police outside the Chief Minister’s official residence. BJP officials labeled the protest a “clear display of anarchy,” after AAP leaders were denied entry to the bungalow.

AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Saurabh Bharadwaj attempted to visit Delhi Chief Minister Atishi’s official residence to counter BJP claims about the property, which had been dubbed the “Sheesh Mahal” due to alleged corruption. However, they were stopped by police officers stationed outside. In response, the two leaders staged a sit-in (dharna) near the residence, engaging in heated arguments with law enforcement.

“We came here to address the issue of ‘tera ghar, mera ghar’. We believe both the PM and CM’s residences should be accessible to the public,” said Bharadwaj, defending their actions after being denied entry.

BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized the protest, calling it “irresponsible, insane, and anarchic.” He went on to attack AAP’s leadership, saying that their actions would not prevent public scrutiny of the alleged corruption surrounding the Chief Minister’s residence.

Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva also accused AAP leaders of attempting to distract from the ongoing controversy over the “Sheesh Mahal.” He questioned why the AAP leaders hadn’t raised the issue earlier, and why they insisted on visiting the property during the ongoing model code of conduct period ahead of the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections.
