Madhya Pradesh: In a significant development for India’s industrial and manufacturing prowess, the foundation stone for the ₹1,800 crore Brahma–BEML Rail Manufacturing Hub was laid today in Umaria village of Obedullaganj, located within the Vidisha Parliamentary Constituency in Madhya Pradesh. The event, graced by Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, Union Minister and local MP Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, and other dignitaries—with Railways Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw joining virtually—underscored the government’s commitment to self-reliance under the flagship vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
This state-of-the-art facility will be equipped for the complete design, manufacture, assembly, and testing of trains, including Vande Bharat and metro coaches, and will also contribute to India’s defence manufacturing sector.
Swadeshi Adoption: A Call for National Economic Strength
At the ceremony, Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan led a powerful pledge for “adopting Swadeshi”—encouraging the large gathering and millions of Indians to prioritize indigenous products in all aspects of daily life: food, clothing, oil, shampoo, and even cosmetics. “If 1.44 billion Indians start adopting Swadeshi, our economy will become stronger. This is what it means to live for the country,” he declared, aligning the move with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s ambition for India to become the world’s third-largest economy.
Chouhan highlighted the transformative impact of collective action: “Everyone lives for themselves, but a true citizen is the one who lives for the nation.” The ‘Swadeshi’ movement is intended to further fuel local industries, create jobs, and strengthen the national economy, while also projecting India’s growing global influence.
Safeguarding Farmers and National Interests
Amid industrial announcements, Shri Chouhan provided reassurance to farmers, fishermen, and livestock rearers, affirming that under PM Modi’s leadership, no international agreements will compromise their interests. Agreements with other nations, he asserted, would always be made in line with India’s national priorities, safeguarding vital sectors and livelihoods.
Regional Development and Youth Empowerment
Highlighting the industrial progress of the region, Shri Chouhan noted the success of the Mandideep industrial area with 752 units exporting goods worth nearly ₹20,000 crore. The new rail manufacturing hub is expected to accelerate regional economic growth, generate over 5,000 local jobs, and provide a major boost to the MSME sector.
He emphasized the personal significance of the project, recalling his early years spent in the region and expressing pride in delivering opportunities to local youth. “This ceremony is more than an industrial milestone; it’s about national interest, Swadeshi, and youth empowerment.”
Conclusion of Brahma–BEML: A Leap Forward for Self-Reliant India
The foundation laying of the Brahma–BEML Rail Manufacturing Hub in Vidisha represents a historic stride towards India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat. It is a convergence of industrial growth, economic self-reliance, national pride, and community empowerment, charting a new path for India’s technological and economic future.
