New Delhi: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, led the BRICS CCI Healthcare Summit 2025, held in New Delhi on August 29, 2025. The summit, themed “Bridging Tradition and Innovation,” highlighted the potential of integrating traditional healing systems with modern healthcare techniques to build inclusive, patient-centric healthcare frameworks.
BRICS Collaboration for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth
Addressing the summit, Shri Jadhav noted the countries represent nearly half of the world’s population, one-third of global GDP, and one-fifth of international trade. He emphasized the need for enhanced cooperation among these nations to accelerate inclusive and sustainable healthcare growth.
India’s Robust Ayush Ecosystem and Global Push
The Minister underscored India’s substantial contributions to AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. India boasts over 1,000 AYUSH colleges, including more than 500 Ayurveda institutions, supported by extensive research networks. Shri Jadhav highlighted Ayurveda’s rising international prominence—practices flourishing in Brazil, inclusion in Russia’s healthcare system, and parallel advancements in China.
Calls for Ethical, Inclusive, and Sustainable Growth in Ayush
Acknowledging the expanding global market for Ayurveda and Yoga, the Minister called for growth that prioritizes inclusivity, ethics, and sustainability. He advocated for strengthened public-private partnerships, digital health innovations, nutraceutical research, and support for entrepreneurs, innovators, and farmers contributing to the sector.
Strengthening Intra-BRICS Cooperation and Market Expansion
The Ministry of AYUSH has already signed MoUs with 25 countries, fostering a strong international collaboration network. The Minister encouraged BRICS nations to leverage the summit platform to build new alliances and promote healthcare models blending traditional wisdom with innovation.
