In a shocking case from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, two brothers allegedly murdered their mother’s long-time lover after harboring deep resentment towards him for over 15 years. The victim, Ratanji Thakor, 45, had been in a relationship with their widowed mother, which the brothers, Sanjay (27) and Jayesh Thakor (23), considered to be a dishonor to their late father’s memory and a source of shame for their family.
Brutal Murder Motivated by Anger
The brothers attacked Ratanji with a rod and a knife, stabbing him to death in broad daylight. Shocked onlookers reportedly watched as the accused even flung the victim’s intestines in the air during the attack, adding to the gruesome scene. The assault also involved Ratanji’s associate, Jikuji Parmar, who was present at the scene but managed to flee when the attackers brandished their weapons.
Tensions Over Affair
The family conflict over the relationship had escalated over the years. Sanjay and Jayesh had warned Ratanji multiple times to stay away from their mother, even involving community elders in their attempts to end the affair. However, their efforts failed, which ultimately led to the violent confrontation.
Arrest of the Accused
Following the murder, the brothers fled the scene, but police were able to track them down using their mobile phone locations. They were arrested later in the day and have been charged with murder and abetment.
Police Investigation
According to investigating officer Unnati Patel, the brothers’ resentment towards Ratanji had been building for years, leading to the tragic turn of events. The case has shocked the community, raising concerns over familial honor and violence spurred by personal conflicts.
