A tragic incident occurred at Kannauj railway station on Saturday when a ceiling slab of an under-construction building collapsed, trapping several workers and railway staff under the debris. The collapse took place early in the morning while workers were laying the ceiling slab as part of ongoing renovations under the Amrit Bharat scheme.

Rescue operations were swiftly launched, with emergency teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and local police working together to search for survivors. So far, six individuals have been rescued from the rubble, but around 8 to 10 people are feared to be trapped beneath the debris.

The two-storey building, which was still under construction, was part of a renovation project to upgrade the station. The sudden collapse caused panic, and locals rushed to the site in an attempt to assist, but they were unable to help due to the severity of the damage and the heavy debris.

The injured have been taken to the hospital, and the rescue operation is ongoing as authorities continue to search for those still trapped. Efforts to clear the debris and stabilize the situation are underway, but the full extent of the damage remains unclear as of now.
