Breaking News

Laxman Utekar’s historical action film Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, has been making waves at the box office since its release. The film, which opened last week, received positive reviews from both critics and audiences, but it witnessed a dip in its collections on the first Monday. By the end of its fourth day, the film had accumulated Rs.140.50 crore in domestic box office earnings, as per early estimates from Sacnilk.

Box Office Performance

Chhaava had an impressive opening on its release day, grossing Rs.31 crore, which marked a significant achievement for a Valentine’s Day release—beating the previous record set by Gully Boy, which opened at Rs.19.40 crore. The film’s performance only strengthened over the weekend, with collections soaring to Rs.37 crore on Saturday and Rs.48.5 crore on Sunday. However, on Monday, the film saw a slight dip, bringing in Rs.24 crore on its first working day, pushing its four-day total to Rs.140.50 crore.

Despite the dip, Chhaava has already become one of the highest-grossing films of 2025, and its strong opening performance indicates it has a bright future at the box office.

Vicky Kaushal’s Commitment to His Role

Vicky Kaushal, who plays the historical figure of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has opened up about the immense effort and dedication he put into portraying the Maratha warrior. The actor admitted that it was his “toughest role” yet, requiring months of intense physical and mental preparation.

“Playing such a historical figure requires a lot of discipline, and discipline is tough. If you are not used to it, it becomes very challenging,” Vicky said. “It’s not just a one-month commitment, it’s a commitment that lasts for one and a half to two years. I’m just happy to say that this is the toughest role I’ve played till date.”

Vicky’s dedication to the role is evident in the transformative performance he has delivered, with many fans and critics praising his portrayal of the iconic warrior.

About Chhaava

Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is set in the historical backdrop of 17th-century India and showcases the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of the legendary Shivaji Maharaj. The film’s production is helmed by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, and the soundtrack is composed by the legendary A.R. Rahman.

Along with Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, who plays his wife Yesubai Bhonsale, the film also stars Akshaye Khanna as the antagonist Aurangzeb, and Diana Penty as Zinat-un-Nissa Begum, the daughter of the Mughal emperor. The movie showcases the intense historical conflict between Sambhaji Maharaj and Aurangzeb, as well as the personal struggles of the royal family during a tumultuous time in Indian history.

Looking Ahead

While Chhaava has seen a dip in its first Monday collection, its strong start and historical significance suggest it could continue to perform well at the box office in the coming weeks. With a committed cast and crew, including Vicky Kaushal’s stellar performance, it remains to be seen how the film will fare in the long run.

As it continues to resonate with audiences, Chhaava has positioned itself as a major player in the 2025 box office race, and its future success will be closely watched in the coming days.
