Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi undertook a comprehensive visit to forward areas in the Central Sector, reaffirming the Indian Army’s operational readiness and commitment to community development in the strategically significant Kumaon region. His tour covered high-altitude posts in Pithoragarh and adjoining forward locations, where he evaluated defence preparedness, reviewed developmental initiatives, and extended festive greetings to troops and local residents.

During the visit, General Dwivedi reviewed formations deployed in the remote, high-altitude zones of Pithoragarh, assessing their combat readiness amid evolving security challenges. He received detailed briefings on the integration of advanced surveillance systems, specialist mobility platforms, next-generation technologies, and reconnaissance optimisation.
He commended the troops for their exceptional professionalism, discipline, and innovative deployment of state-of-the-art equipment in extreme terrain and weather conditions, reinforcing the Army’s ethos of operational excellence.

The Army Chief interacted extensively with personnel stationed across remote posts, acknowledging their resilience and unwavering dedication in the face of adversity. General Dwivedi invoked the guiding principle of “Service Before Self,” commending soldiers for their indomitable spirit and devotion to duty.

Initiatives assessed included tent-based homestays in Garbyang and Kalapani, road infrastructure enhancements, hybrid power systems, medical outreach camps, and agricultural support through polyhouses.
He praised the Army’s engagement in livelihood generation, local capacity building, and infrastructural development, viewing them as strategic tools for strengthening border security and promoting self-reliant communities.
