A Class 11 student, Anshul Kumar, tragically lost his life on Tuesday evening in Faridabad after being brutally attacked by a group of 10 men in a crowded market. Despite his desperate cries for help, bystanders chose not to intervene, leaving the 16-year-old to succumb to his injuries.
The attack occurred while Anshul was at a sweet shop with his sister, Anjali. As she purchased snacks, the assailants, armed with knives and rods, ambushed Anshul, stabbing him at least 14 times in under a minute before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained injuries to his chest, abdomen, back, and thigh.
Authorities have arrested all 10 suspects, aged between 19 and 21, identified as Harsh Mathur, Rohit Dhama, Himanshu Kumar, Karn, Mohammad Sajid, Rupesh, Karan Koli, Vasu, Deepak, and Jatin. Several of them have prior criminal records, including cases of robbery.
The police revealed that the attack stemmed from a long-standing dispute between Anshul and the accused, who are alleged to have been involved in selling drugs and harassing girls in the area. Anshul’s family had reportedly warned authorities about death threats he received on Instagram days before the incident.
Anshul was rushed to a nearby hospital by his sister but succumbed to his injuries the following day. The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act.
The victim’s family is now protesting against police inaction, alleging that their previous complaints were dismissed. The incident has sparked outrage, with many questioning the apathy of the public and the delayed response of law enforcement.
This brutal murder highlights not only the danger posed by local criminal elements but also the alarming indifference of onlookers in moments of crisis.
