New Delhi: The Department of Posts is poised for a significant transformation as Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced plans to digitize its operations, marking a pivotal shift in its 150-year legacy. Speaking at the India Post Officers’ Conclave 2024, Scindia emphasized the importance of “Dak Sewa is Jan Sewa” and outlined a roadmap to modernize the department in line with the growing e-commerce sector.
During his keynote address, Scindia highlighted five strategic pillars to drive innovation: Lead to Inspire, Resolve to Innovate, Inclusive Growth, Transforming through Collective Action, and Staying True to the Mission of Jan Sewa. These principles aim to enhance the department’s efficiency, inclusivity, and global competitiveness.
The transition includes a restructuring initiative that will see India Post evolve into a logistics corporation, leveraging digital technology to improve infrastructure under the PM Gatishakti National Master Plan. Additionally, services like the India Post Payment Bank (IPPB), Aadhaar facilitation, and Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras will be expanded to strengthen financial inclusion and export services.
India Post’s leadership reaffirmed its commitment to bridging distances and fostering socio-economic development while maintaining its foundational ethos of public service. Scindia also encouraged the adoption of an entrepreneurial mindset among officers to meet future challenges and harness emerging opportunities in the global market.
