In a tragic incident, authorities found the decomposed bodies of a 42-year-old Assistant Commissioner of the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC), his 35-year-old sister, and their 80-year-old mother in the officer’s official quarters in Kochi, Kerala. The officer, originally from Ranchi, Jharkhand, was serving in the GST wing in Kochi. His sister, a Jharkhand Administrative Service (JAS) officer and a top ranker in the Public Service Commission (PSC) exams, had been implicated in a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case concerning exam irregularities. The deaths are suspected to have occurred at least four to five days prior to the discovery, and the local Thrikkakara police have registered a case of unnatural death. A note addressed to the Kerala police was found, requesting that all documents in the house be handed over to another sister residing in the UAE. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination at the Ernakulam Government Medical College Hospital, with reports expected soon.
