As of 3:00 PM today, the Delhi elections 2025 have recorded a voter turnout of 46.4%, with polling stations witnessing steady participation. Voting began at 7:00 AM and will continue until 6:00 PM across 13,766 polling stationsin the national capital. A total of 699 candidates are in the fray, contesting for 70 assembly seats in this high-stakes electoral battle.

The Delhi Elections 2025 are a crucial test for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, as it seeks a third consecutive term. AAP’s campaign has focused on its governance record, highlighting key welfare initiatives such as free electricity, water, and improvements in education and healthcare.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is striving to increase its footprint in the capital, emphasizing national issues and law-and-order concerns. The Congress party, once a dominant force in Delhi, is working to regain lost ground after being largely sidelined in the last two elections.

Several prominent political figures exercised their voting rights early in the day. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal cast his vote in the morning, urging Delhiites to come out in large numbers to strengthen democracy. Congress leader Sonia Gandhi also visited her designated polling station and cast her vote.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) strategically scheduled the Delhi  elections 2025 on a weekday, aiming to boost voter participation. Officials noted that weekend elections often lead to lower turnout among urban, upper-middle-class voters, who may prioritize travel or personal commitments.

Despite the working-day scheduling, the 46.4% voter turnout recorded by 3 PM suggests active participation. Polling officials anticipate a further surge in voting as the day progresses.

As the voting process continues, all eyes are now on the February 8 vote count, which will determine the political fate of Delhi. With a three-way contest between AAP, BJP, and Congress, the results will shape the future governance of the national capital.

The final voter turnout figures are expected later in the evening, with the results scheduled to be declared on February 8.
