An FIR filed against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of “physical assault and incitement” during a scuffle in Parliament, has been transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation. The incident occurred during a clash between MPs from the NDA and INDIA blocs on Thursday, over competing protests related to alleged insults against Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

The scuffle escalated when BJP MPs Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput were injured and hospitalized. According to BJP claims, Rahul Gandhi was involved in pushing and injuring the MPs while attempting to enter the House. However, Rahul Gandhi countered by saying that BJP MPs had threatened and physically blocked his entry. He further alleged that the BJP was attempting to distract from discussions about the Adani Group’s recent indictment in the United States by leveling false accusations.

The FIR, filed at the Parliament Street Police Station, includes charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including voluntarily causing grievous hurt and criminal intimidation. A senior Delhi Police official confirmed the transfer of the case to the Crime Branch, and said they would be examining any footage from the incident.

The Congress party also lodged a separate complaint, accusing BJP MPs of misbehaving with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge during the scuffle.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rahul Gandhi’s sister, criticized the move as an indication of the BJP’s desperation, citing the increasing number of FIRs filed against her brother. She dismissed the allegations, stating that the BJP’s actions reflected their political anxiety.

Meanwhile, the two injured BJP MPs are said to be in stable condition, according to doctors. The investigation is ongoing, with police committed to reviewing all evidence related to the incident.
