New Delhi: In response to the tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station on February 15, which resulted in the loss of at least 18 lives, the Delhi Rail Division has instituted new security protocols to enhance passenger safety and streamline operations. A key measure mandates that station officials obtain clearance from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) before permitting trains to arrive at platforms 8 to 16. This directive aims to manage the heavy influx of passengers, particularly those traveling to eastern regions such as Prayagraj, Patna, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Howrah, especially during significant events like the Maha Kumbh festival.
Platforms 8 to 16 have been identified as critical areas due to their role in handling trains bound for the aforementioned destinations.
