New Delhi: As part of the ongoing ‘Swachhata Hi Seva-2025’ campaign, the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD), Government of India, intensified efforts to promote sanitation and hygiene in workplaces and public spaces. On September 19, 2025, officers and staff visited Firoz Gandhi Camp, New Delhi, conducting a door-to-door awareness drive. Residents received brooms, dustbins, soaps, and sanitizers, and were educated on the importance of maintaining both personal and environmental cleanliness. Children were especially sensitized about hygiene and the need for a clean environment.
Youth Engagement and Creative Contests
To inculcate habits of cleanliness in the younger generation, DFPD organized a drawing competition themed “Swachhotsav” on September 21, 2025, for the wards of departmental staff. This creative initiative encouraged children to express the significance of Swachhata through art and helped drive home the importance of hygiene from an early age.
Mass Participation: Walkathon and Plogging Drive
Under the #SwachhataHiSeva 2025 campaign, the Department also led a spirited Walkathon and Plogging Drive from Krishi Bhavan to Jantar Mantar on September 22, 2025. The event involved active participation of officers and local public and highlighted the role of collective action in cleaning public spaces and promoting volunteerism in cleanliness drives.
