The Department of Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, alongside its PSUs and subordinate offices, successfully concluded the Swachhta Hi Sewa-2025 (SHS-2025) campaign on 2nd October 2025. The campaign, which began on 17th September, featured a nationwide Swachhta pledge followed by a series of cleanliness, awareness, and cultural activities promoting Gandhian ideals of cleanliness and dignity.
Key Activities and Celebrations
Throughout the campaign, officers and staff actively participated in diverse activities, including cleaning of CTUs, door-to-door sanitation efforts, walkathons, awareness campaigns, drawing contests, tree plantation drives (Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam), and special events like “Ek Din Ek Ghanta Ek Sath” on 25th September. Cultural programmes such as poem recitation, Nukkad Natak, and slogan writing amplified mass engagement and public awareness for cleanliness.
On Swachh Bharat Diwas (2nd October), marking Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, staff took to the streets, symbolically sweeping roads and reaffirming the vision of cleanliness as a national value. Floral tributes to Gandhiji and the distribution of gifts celebrated Safai Mitras for their dedicated service.
Tribute, Felicitation, and Inspiration: Department of Food

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) HQ observed a special concluding ceremony at its reception, celebrating Gandhi Jayanti, felicitating Safai Workers with gifts and awards, and honoring their contributions throughout FCI offices, depots, and field units.

The Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) conducted its ceremony on 1st October, boosting Safai Mitras’ morale with recognition and gifts.

At IGMRI-Ludhiana, floral tributes were offered to Mahatma Gandhi, and a collective resolve was made to uphold Gandhian ideals of truth, non-violence, cleanliness, and simplicity.

In IGMRI Hyderabad, “Swachhotsav-2025” awards were presented to Safai Mitras who demonstrated outstanding commitment to maintaining institutional cleanliness.
