New Delhi: The Ministry of Ayush successfully concluded a significant two-day Departmental Summit on “National Ayush Mission and Capacity Building in States” at the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi. The summit gathered senior policymakers, State and Union Territory health officials, domain experts, and key stakeholders from across India to deliberate and strategize on strengthening the Ayush sector at national and sub-national levels.

Inaugural Highlights and Key Facilities

The summit, inaugurated on 3 September 2025, was presided over by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Shri Prataprao Jadhav in the presence of Dr. V. K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI Aayog, and Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush. Shri Jadhav highlighted the transformative progress of the National Ayush Mission (NAM) in expanding affordable and inclusive Ayush healthcare services. He inaugurated two critical facilities at AIIA: a Project Management Unit (PMU) for assisting the public with insurance claims related to Ayush treatments, and an Advanced Centre for Ayurveda Digital Learning and Communications, aimed at capacity building, professional development, and fostering innovation.



Themes and Deliberations: Departmental Summit

The summit engaged participants in thorough discussions across six thematic areas:

  • Financial Management and Project Monitoring

  • Integration of Ayush with Modern Healthcare and Public Health Programs

  • Human Resource Strengthening and Capacity Building

  • Infrastructure Development and Service Delivery

  • Quality Assurance and Branding of ASU&H Medicines

  • IT-enabled Digital Services for Ayush Sector

Dr. V. K. Paul emphasized the necessity of synergizing efforts between the National Health Mission (NHM) and the National Ayush Mission to amplify national health outcomes through collaborative Center-State actions.

Valedictory Session and Future Vision

In the valedictory address, Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha underscored the importance of widespread behavioral change communication and adoption of Ayurveda through the Har Ghar AyurYog initiative. He called on States and UTs to submit innovative proposals for strengthening NAM in the upcoming financial year. Highlighting the diversity of India as an asset, he stressed the national goal to allocate 5% of GDP towards health and the plan to establish 10 more AIIA-like institutes, strengthen collaborations with AYUSH Research Councils, and enhance State-level budgeting.

Dr. A. Raghu, Deputy Director General (Ayush Vertical), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, summarized the summit’s revelations, advocating for States to consider setting up dedicated Ayush Departments to ensure cohesive and sustained sector development.

Expert Contributions and Closing Commitment

The summit featured expert insights from renowned dignitaries including Shri Hoveyda Abbas, Ms. Indrani Kaushal, Dr. B. N. Gangadhar, Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Dr. V. M. Katoch, Shri Rajiv Vasudevan, Dr. J.L.N. Sastry, Shri Ranjit Puranik, Shri Abhishek Singh, Professor Bejon Kumar Mishra, Dr. Bhavana Prashar, and Professor Bhushan Patwardhan.

The conclave concluded with a renewed and collective pledge to bolster capacity, integration, and the quality of Ayush services, reinforcing the sector’s central role in achieving India’s health and wellness aspirations.
