Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has strongly reacted to Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar’s personal attack on his wife, Amruta Fadnavis. Kumar had made a jibe during a rally in Nagpur, questioning whether Fadnavis’s wife, known for her social media presence, was filming Instagram reels while the people were fighting for a “dharamyudh”.
In his response, Fadnavis expressed outrage, stating that such personal and inappropriate comments about his wife should invoke shame. He emphasized that such actions were unbecoming of any civilized individual, saying, “Jis prakar ka vyavhaar inhone kiya hai… Sharam aani chahiye. Chullu bhar paani mein doob marna chahiye,”.
Fadnavis, while addressing the issue, also reminded the public of the many personal attacks he and his wife have endured over the past years. He claimed that the opposition had thoroughly investigated his life, from his hair to his nails, but found no wrongdoing, resorting instead to personal attacks when they couldn’t find any flaws.
The controversy erupted after Kanhaiya Kumar’s remarks about Amruta Fadnavis’s social media activities, including her music and lifestyle posts, which Kumar mocked in front of his audience. Fadnavis, in his defense, urged his wife to remain calm and patient, asserting that while lies might be loud, the truth would ultimately prevail.
As Maharashtra heads towards a crucial electoral showdown on November 20, these personal and political clashes between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress are set to intensify.
