Punjabi superstar and global icon Diljit Dosanjh has hit back at online trolls criticizing him for using the spelling “Panjab” instead of “Punjab” in a recent social media post. The controversy started after Dosanjh announced one of his upcoming concerts, where netizens quickly pointed out the spelling and the absence of the Indian flag emoji in his caption.
Responding to the backlash, Diljit took to social media to address the issue with his signature wit and calm demeanor. He dismissed the claims as unnecessary conspiracies and labeled those spreading negativity as “vehley” (idle). Diljit explained, “Whether you write it as Panjab or Punjab, it’s still the same. It’s the land of five rivers, and that won’t change.”
He further clarified that the omission of the Indian flag emoji was an unintentional oversight and not something to be overanalyzed. Referring to his earlier posts, he said similar instances had occurred, including his posts about Bengaluru, where no flag emoji was used either.
The singer, known for his global tours and chart-topping music, urged fans to focus on positivity rather than fueling baseless controversies. He concluded his statement by saying, “I know you won’t stop, but come up with something new, guys!”
Currently, Diljit Dosanjh is on his much-anticipated Dil-Luminati Tour, with his next performances scheduled in Mumbai and Guwahati.
