DPIIT Secretary Leads Delegation to K-tech MeitY Nasscom Centre of Excellence for IoT & AI in Bengaluru: August 2025

Bengaluru: Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, led a high-level delegation to the K-tech MeitY Nasscom Centre of Excellence for IoT & AI in Bengaluru to foster engagement with startups, innovation leaders, and ecosystem enablers.

Accompanied by Shri Rajat Kumar Saini, CEO & MD of NICDC, the Director of DPIIT, and the Head of Startup India, the delegation interacted with startup founders and incubation leaders to gain insights into emerging trends in IoT, AI, Data Science, Big Data, AR/VR, Machine Learning, and Robotics.

The Centre of Excellence, India’s largest deep tech innovation platform, bridges the gap between startups, enterprises, academia, and government to address real-world challenges. The visit focused on identifying policy support avenues to accelerate technological innovation and scale industrial transformation.


Review of Tumakuru Industrial Area under NICDP

Post the Investors Roundtable in Bengaluru, Shri Bhatia conducted an in-depth review of the Tumakuru Industrial Area, a flagship project under the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme (NICDP).

Key highlights included:

  • Phase A development spanning 1,736 acres.

  • Review of internal roads, drainage systems, and utility corridors.

  • Progress discussions with EPC contractor Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and PMC contractor HaskoningDHV.

L&T officials assured the Secretary that major deliverables would be expedited and land allotment for industries would begin by year-end. Shri Bhatia emphasized the need to meet deadlines while maintaining world-class infrastructure standards to attract both domestic and global investments.




Visits to Aerospace and Electronics Hubs

The delegation also visited:

  • Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development Pvt. Ltd.

  • Devanahalli Aerospace SEZ

  • Dynamatic Technologies, a prominent aerospace components manufacturer.

These visits offered a firsthand look at India’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and its evolving role in the global aerospace and electronics supply chain.


Collaboration and Stakeholder Alignment- DPIIT

The review meeting brought together key stakeholders, including:

  • Dr. Selvakumar S, Principal Secretary, Government of Karnataka

  • Shri Rajat Kumar Saini, CEO & MD, NICDC

  • Dr. Mahesh M, MD, KIADB

  • Smt. Shubha Kalyan, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Tumakuru

  • Senior officials from NICDC and the Karnataka State Government

Shri Bhatia encouraged leveraging the synergy between innovation, infrastructure, and policy frameworks to position Tumakuru as a leading investment and export-led growth hub for sectors such as electronics, automotive, clean tech, and logistics.
