Lucknow— DRDO’s Defence Technology and Test Centre (DTTC) conducted a high-profile conclave at the Amausi Campus, engaging over 100 participants from MSMEs, start-ups, and Laghu Udhyog Bharti to accelerate defence R&D and production within the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor (UPDIC).

Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing:
The event focused on building MSME capacity through informative sessions on skill development, funding for R&D, technical consultancy, and technology development and transfer. -
DRDO Commitment:
The DRDO Chairman described DTTC as a visionary project initiated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, now benefiting industries spanning the defence supply chain. He assured MSMEs full support from DRDO under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat missions. -
Strategic Importance of UPDIC:
The UP Defence Industrial Corridor is a key initiative under Make in India, with six nodes (Aligarh, Agra, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow, Chitrakoot). It aims to make UP a major hub for aerospace and military equipment production, leveraging public and private investment, technology transfer, and indigenous innovation.
Growth and Impact

As of June 2025, the corridor has seen investments of over ₹28,800 crore, allocations of land to 47 companies, and the commencement of operations by seven defence manufacturing firms.

MSMEs are being empowered to join the defence supply chain with easier access to incentives, single-window clearances, and advanced infrastructure.

The conclave emphasized opportunities for startups and small businesses in technology-driven defence manufacturing, including electronics, missiles, drones, ballistic gear, and defence textiles.

The conclave was attended by senior DRDO officials: DG (Naval Systems & Materials) Dr RV Hara Prasad; DG (Technology Management) Dr LC Mangal; and DG (Human Resources) Dr Mayank Dwivedi.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commended DRDO and MSMEs, recognizing their role in realizing PM Narendra Modi’s vision of self-reliance.

The UPDIC strengthened by MSME collaboration and DRDO support, is positioned to transform Uttar Pradesh into a global defence production hub, drive technology innovation, generate skilled jobs, and fuel economic growth for “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” by 2047.
