A major inter-state drug trafficking network has been dismantled, with two suspected drug dealers from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh arrested in Jammu & Kashmir. The authorities continue to investigate the case.

Breaking News

In a major breakthrough, the Jammu & Kashmir police have dismantled an inter-state drug trafficking network and arrested two key narcotic dealers from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

The Arrests

According to the police, the arrested individuals, Raju Gupta from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, and Mohammad Abrar from Bhajanpura, Delhi, were identified as major suppliers of narcotics to local drug peddlers. The investigation, which involved examining bank transactions and communication records, led to the identification of the suspects.

A team from the Srinagar police conducted extensive operations in Uttar Pradesh and Delhi over a span of 10 days with the assistance of local police. Raju Gupta was arrested on January 23 in Bareilly, while Mohammad Abrar was arrested on January 24 in Bhajanpura. The suspects were later presented in court, and transit remands were obtained for further investigation.

Investigations and Findings

The police also identified a suspicious courier parcel in Loni, Ghaziabad, linked to the accused. Efforts are underway to retrieve it with the court’s approval. Furthermore, the financial transactions and properties of the arrested individuals are under scrutiny for potential attachment under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Previous Arrests and Evidence

The arrests are linked to a previous case where three drug peddlers were apprehended on November 8, 2024, at a checkpoint in Tarbal Chowk. Police seized 140 bottles of banned drugs, ₹38,530 in suspected drug proceeds, three mobile phones, and a drone camera allegedly used for monitoring drug buyers.

The investigation revealed that these local peddlers were supplied narcotics by Gupta and Abrar, further unravelling the scope of the trafficking network.

Ongoing Investigation

The police have assured that investigations are ongoing, and they expect more arrests and seizures in the coming days. This operation underscores the police’s commitment to combatting the growing drug menace in the region.

The authorities are determined to bring the full extent of the drug trafficking network to light and ensure strict action under the NDPS Act.
