A disturbing incident in Kotdwar, Uttarakhand, during the New Year celebrations has gone viral, capturing the attention of social media users. A video shared by the official Pauri Garhwal Police on X (formerly Twitter) shows an inebriated biker, identified as Vivek Bisht, causing chaos in the streets.
The incident took place on Patel Marg on Tuesday when Bisht, under the influence of alcohol, crashed his bike into several vehicles and injured pedestrians, creating widespread panic. Local authorities responded to multiple complaints, rushing to the scene to manage the situation. However, Bisht aggressively resisted arrest, verbally abusing both bystanders and police officers. In an act of defiance, he smashed the rear window of a police Scorpio vehicle before being detained.
Later, another segment of the viral video showed Bisht emerging from the police lockup, where he appeared to express regret for his behavior. Wearing a mask and folding his hands, he apologized, acknowledging his wrongdoings and promising not to repeat his actions.
Kotdwar Station Officer Ramesh Tanwar confirmed Bisht’s arrest and revealed that charges had been filed against him under multiple sections, including damaging public property. The incident and its subsequent video have sparked reactions across social media, with many users criticizing Bisht’s behavior and the police’s handling of the situation.
One user remarked, “The police should definitely give him the kind of ‘special treatment’ that ensures his next drink is a lifetime supply of regret,” while another joked, “The cops must be thinking, Just get him to the Police station, that’s it!”
