Vice-President Underscores Role of Educational Institutions in Nation-Building at CMRIT Silver Jubilee Celebrations: 2026

The Vice-President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, on Tuesday emphasized the transformative role of educational institutions in shaping a strong, self-reliant and future-ready nation while addressing the Silver Jubilee celebrations of CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT), Bengaluru. He highlighted that India is no longer just a consumer of global technology but is steadily emerging as a creator of technology, driven by innovation, knowledge and youth power.


Silver Jubilee Celebrates Vision, Purpose and Educational Excellence

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, the Vice-President congratulated CMRIT on completing 25 years of service in technical education, describing the occasion as not merely a milestone of time but a celebration of vision, perseverance and purpose.

He praised the institution for staying true to its founding philosophy of nurturing not only skilled professionals but also ethical leaders and responsible citizens. He also expressed appreciation for CMRIT’s achievement of securing the highest NAAC accreditation grade of A++.

On the occasion, he inaugurated the Institute’s new Incubation Centre and Auditorium, further strengthening the institution’s academic and innovation ecosystem.




Strengthening Faculty is Key to Quality Education

Drawing from his experience as a former Governor, Shri Radhakrishnan stressed that the quality of educational institutions depends heavily on the strength of their faculty. He observed that poor institutional gradings often stem from vacant teaching positions and underlined that investing in faculty capacity building directly improves academic standards, institutional credibility and public trust.


Message to Students: Focus, Patience and Integrity Lead to Success

In a direct message to students, the Vice-President urged them to:

  • Set clear personal goals

  • Progress at their own pace

  • Avoid comparing their journey with others

He acknowledged that success may not come instantly for everyone, but assured that hard work, discipline and sincerity inevitably bear fruit over time.


India Emerging as a Creator of Technology

Highlighting India’s innovation-driven growth, the Vice-President said the country has moved beyond being a passive adopter of technology. Recalling the COVID-19 pandemic, he noted how Indian scientists successfully developed indigenous vaccines following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call, demonstrating India’s scientific strength and self-reliance.

He cited flagship initiatives such as Digital India, Startup India and Make in India as pillars of this transformation and commended CMRIT for supporting over 50 startups through its Innovation and Incubation Centre, contributing meaningfully to India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.


Viksit Bharat @2047: Strength Without Dependence

Speaking on the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, the Vice-President clarified that the goal is not dominance over others but to ensure that “no one ever dictates terms to India.”

He stressed that national strength must be anchored in:

  • Self-reliance

  • Knowledge and innovation

  • Moral confidence

  • Strong institutions

Educational institutions, he said, are the guiding light of the youth and play an irreplaceable role in shaping the nation’s destiny.


NEP 2020 Provides Roadmap for Future-Ready Youth

Referring to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Shri Radhakrishnan said it offers a comprehensive framework that promotes:

  • Multidisciplinary learning

  • Critical thinking

  • Cultural rootedness

  • Future-oriented skills

He noted that the policy empowers students to face global challenges while staying grounded in India’s traditions and values.


Strong Appeal to Youth: Say No to Drugs

Expressing concern over rising substance abuse, the Vice-President cautioned students against all forms of addiction and urged them to adopt a firm stance of “No to Drugs.” He encouraged young people to not only protect themselves but also actively influence peers to stay away from harmful habits.

Describing the Silver Jubilee as a moment of both celebration and introspection, the Vice-President said institutions like CMRIT must continue to innovate responsibly while remaining rooted in core values.
