Mumbai: The Indian national congress has announced a combined list of candidates for the Jharkhand Elections and Maharashtra elections. In a list consisting of 6 candidates, it has fielded 2 candidates in Jharkhand and 4 in Maharashtra. This takes the tally of its total candidates to 30 in Jharkhand and 102 in Maharashtra.
In Maharashtra:
Part of Maha Vikas Aghadi, consisting Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP), it gave tickets to Sajid Khan Mannan Khan from Akola West, Heera Devasi in Colaba, Chetan Narote in Solapur City Central and Mrs. Madhurimaraje Malojiraje Chhatrapati, a royal family member, replaced Rajesh Latkar in Kolhapur North constituency.
Congress had previously replaced two candidates on Sunday- former MLA Ashok Jadhav replaced Sachin Sawant from Andheri West. While in Aurangabad East, the party replaced Madhukar Deshmukh with Lahu Shewale.
In Jharkhand:
Shweta Singh got a ticket from Bokaro constituency. She will be facing BJP’s Biranchi Narayan. Narayan had previously won from Bokaro as an independent candidate in 2014 winning by a margin of over 72,000. He contested 2019 on BJP ticket and defeated INC’s Shweta Singh by around 13,000 votes.
In Dhanbad, it fielded Ajay Dubey, against Raj Sinha of BJP. Sinha defeated INC’s Mannan Mallick by nearly 30,000 votes in 2019 Assembly.
