Exercise Bold Kurukshetra 2025 Kicks Off in Jodhpur: Strengthening India–Singapore Defence Ties

Jodhpur – The 14th edition of Exercise Bold Kurukshetra, the flagship joint military drill between India and Singapore, commenced today in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Scheduled to continue till August 4, 2025, the exercise aims to deepen defence cooperation, enhance interoperability, and refine joint operational capabilities between the two nations’ mechanised forces.


Participants and Structure

This year’s exercise sees the participation of the 42 Singapore Armoured Regiment of the 4 Singapore Armoured Brigade, and India’s elite Mechanised Infantry Regiment. The joint training is designed as a Table Top Exercise (TTX) and Computer-Based Wargame, simulating mechanised warfare scenarios and strategic deployments under the United Nations mandate.

The Indian Army contingent is led by Colonel Arjun Ganapathi, Commanding Officer of the Mechanised Infantry Regiment, while the Singaporean side is headed by Lieutenant Colonel Khiew Zhi Yoong, Battalion Commander of the 42 Singapore Armoured Regiment.


Opening Ceremony and Symbolic Handing Over

The opening ceremony was attended by senior military officials from both nations. Brigadier Pritam, Commander of the 340 (I) Mechanised Brigade, and Colonel Wong Zeng Yu, Commander of the 4 Singapore Armoured Brigade, presided over the event as chief guests.

A symbolic handing over of the Regimental Flag by the 42 Singapore Armoured Regiment to the Indian contingent marked the official commencement of the exercise, symbolising mutual respect and the transfer of command for the duration of the engagement.




Objectives and Strategic Significance

Exercise Bold Kurukshetra 2025 focuses on validating tactical doctrines, command procedures, and joint planning frameworks for mechanised combat operations. The culmination of the exercise will feature a display of state-of-the-art Indian Army equipment, showcasing India’s defence preparedness and indigenous capabilities.

The core aim of the drill is to enhance joint training capabilities, foster operational coordination, and promote mutual understanding between the armed forces of India and Singapore, especially in the context of multilateral peacekeeping and humanitarian missions.

Bold Kurukshetra has evolved into a key element of the India–Singapore defence partnership, reflecting shared strategic interests and commitment to regional security. The 2025 edition marks another milestone in the growing collaboration between the two countries, strengthening bonds not just at a tactical level, but also at the strategic and institutional levels.

By sharing expertise in mechanised warfare and modern battle simulations, the exercise contributes to the development of a more integrated, cooperative, and forward-looking regional security architecture in the Indo-Pacific.
