A major fire erupted at a private hospital in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday, triggering chaos among patients and hospital staff. Emergency measures were swiftly launched to control the blaze, and no casualties have been reported so far.
Details of the Incident
The fire, which broke out in the hospital’s premises, caused widespread panic, forcing patients and medical personnel to evacuate immediately. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, and fire department teams worked diligently to prevent further escalation.
Recent Fire Incident in Noida
This incident comes on the heels of another massive fire reported just days earlier in the basement of an electronics manufacturing company in Noida’s Sector 65. The December 22 fire caused extensive damage, with goods worth crores of rupees destroyed.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone II) Shakti Mohan Awasthi confirmed that the fire was reported around 8 a.m., prompting the deployment of 17 fire tenders. It took approximately five hours and the efforts of 100 firefighters to contain the blaze.
Cause of the Sector 65 Fire
Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Choubey revealed that the Sector 65 fire likely originated from electrical sparks and the batteries stored in the basement. The batteries’ intermittent explosions further complicated the firefighting efforts. Fortunately, as the incident occurred on a Sunday, there were no employees on-site, preventing any casualties.
Safety Concerns Raised
The back-to-back fire incidents have raised concerns about fire safety protocols in the region. Authorities are expected to conduct detailed inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and prevent such mishaps in the future.
These incidents highlight the urgent need for stringent measures to safeguard public spaces, especially high-risk areas like hospitals and industrial units.
