Five Bangladeshi Women Arrested for Illegal Stay in Thane’s Mira Road

Further investigation is underway to determine how these individuals entered India

In a recent operation in Thane district, Maharashtra, police apprehended five Bangladeshi women for residing in India without proper documentation. Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell of the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar commissionerate conducted raids in two locations within the Mira Road and Naya Nagar areas.

The women, aged between 36 and 50 years, were found living in rented accommodations but failed to produce valid residency permits or travel documents during questioning.

An interpreter was reportedly used to assist in communication. Following their arrest, the authorities registered FIRs against them under the Foreign Nationals Act and the Passport (Entry into India) Act. The homeowner who rented the premises to these women has also been listed as an accused in the case.

Further investigation is underway to determine how these individuals entered India and their activities during their stay. Police continue efforts to tighten surveillance on illegal immigration in the region.
