Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister EVKS Elangovan passed away at the age of 75 due to age-related health complications on Saturday. He had been battling a lung-related illness for over a month and was admitted to a private hospital in Erode on November 11.
The hospital confirmed his death, stating that despite the best efforts of the medical staff, Elangovan succumbed to his ailments.
Elangovan, who represented the Erode East constituency, was a prominent figure in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape. His passing has been described as a “huge loss” by Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K Selvaperunthagai, who expressed his grief, stating that Elangovan’s outspoken nature and contributions to the Congress party would be greatly missed.
