Bhubaneswar: In his speech at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) convention in Bhubaneswar on January 9, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated India’s strong position on global peace. “The future does not lie in war, but in Buddha,” he said, stressing India’s commitment to non-violence and its rich heritage of peace.
PM Modi emphasized that India is not only the “mother of democracy,” but that democracy is deeply ingrained in the lives of its people. He pointed out that the world now listens to India, as it articulates its views with confidence, while also speaking for the Global South.
Referring to the Indian diaspora, PM Modi stated that they play a crucial role in shaping India’s global presence. He expressed his belief that the diaspora are ambassadors of India in their adopted countries, highlighting India’s responsibility to support them during times of crisis.
The Prime Minister also lauded India’s youth for their skills and energy, stressing the government’s efforts to equip young Indians with the necessary skills to meet global demands. “We aim to ensure that Indian youth are prepared for opportunities abroad,” he said, pointing to the growing demand for skilled labor worldwide.
As India celebrates its diverse cultural heritage, PM Modi remarked that the G20 meetings held in various parts of the country gave the world a first-hand experience of India’s vibrant diversity.
