TAMILNADU: Google, in partnership with the Tamil Nadu government, recently hosted the strategic forum “AI Connect” in Chennai to explore and leverage the opportunities AI presents for sectors in the state. The forum brought together key industry leaders, academicians, and government officials to foster innovation and position Tamil Nadu as a frontrunner in artificial intelligence.
This initiative aligns with the August agreement signed between the Tamil Nadu government and Google to accelerate technological growth and innovation in the region. Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state’s primary agency for investments, collaborated on this dynamic event to encourage dialogue between industries like electronics, semiconductor production, automotive, healthcare, and technology services.
During the discussions, participants emphasized how AI can boost business innovation, economic development, and societal well-being. Highlighting Tamil Nadu’s vision, T R B Rajaa, Minister for Industries, expressed pride in the partnership, stating, “Under CM M K Stalin’s leadership, we are equipping over 2 million youth in Tamil Nadu with AI skills to foster innovation and economic opportunities.”
Anand Rangarajan, VP of Engineering at Google India, reaffirmed Google’s commitment by adding, “Collaboration is the foundation of meaningful innovation, and through this forum, we aim to address local challenges and unlock AI’s transformative potential.”
This strategic move sets the stage for industry-academia collaborations and a strengthened talent pool prepared to harness AI’s opportunities across multiple sectors.
