Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini, expressed deep concern over the recent attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal during his padyatra in Delhi. The incident, involving a bus marshal allegedly attacking Kejriwal, has sparked a political controversy with widespread condemnation from various political quarters.
Saini, while addressing the matter, stated that the attack was “unfortunate” and should not have occurred. He emphasized that such incidents go against the principles of democracy and peace. The attack, which took place on the 30th of November, has created a stir among the political parties, with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleging that it was a deliberate attempt to harm Kejriwal.

The incident occurred during the padyatra, where Kejriwal was interacting with the public in the Vikaspuri area of Delhi. The assailant, reportedly a bus marshal, allegedly approached Kejriwal in a hostile manner. Following the attack, the Delhi Police swiftly intervened, and the suspect was taken into custody. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, along with other AAP leaders, condemned the attack, asserting that it was an act of political violence linked to BJP’s ongoing efforts to undermine Kejriwal.
While Saini condemned the incident, he also called for greater political tolerance and stressed that attacks on political leaders should not be used as a tool of political gamesmanship. The Haryana CM’s remarks are seen as an attempt to distance his government from the political chaos that has unfolded around Kejriwal’s padyatra.
As investigations continue, both AAP and BJP have exchanged sharp words over the incident, with AAP leaders accusing BJP of masterminding the attack. However, BJP spokespersons have denied any involvement, stating that the matter should be handled by the Delhi Police.
The attack on Kejriwal has further intensified the already heated political landscape ahead of Delhi’s upcoming assembly elections.
