An Enforcement Directorate (ED) team, led by Assistant Director Poluri Chenna Kesava Rao, was attacked by the director and staff of an offshore casino in Goa on Thursday. The incident took place at the Cruise Casino Pride, a floating casino, when the ED officials were conducting a search in connection with a money laundering investigation.
According to police, the casino director and two senior staff members assaulted the ED team, confining them to a room and threatening harm. The accused are also alleged to have destroyed evidence that had been collected during the search.
A case has been filed against the casino director and staff at the Panaji police station. The ED’s complaint highlights the unlawful actions of the casino team during the investigation. This attack follows a series of similar incidents, including an attack on ED officials last month in Delhi and another in West Bengal earlier this year. These incidents underscore the rising tensions between law enforcement and individuals under investigation for financial crimes.
