Himani Bundela, the first visually impaired contestant to win Rs.1 crore on Kaun Banega Crorepati during its 13th season, is back on the hot seat in the 16th season. Host Amitabh Bachchan welcomed her once again, where she shared how winning the life-changing amount transformed her life and helped her champion the cause of differently abled individuals.
A primary school teacher by profession, Himani used her Rs.1 crore winnings to support disabled children, opting not to invest in medical treatment but to fund projects that could make a long-term impact. She is focused on establishing an inclusive coaching center for differently abled students, aiming to provide education to both differently abled and able-bodied children together. This initiative aligns with her vision of preparing them for competitive exams like UPSC and CPCS.
Reflecting on her KBC experience, Himani spoke with Amitabh Bachchan about how her life had changed after her victory. She described the overwhelming celebrations at home, which lasted for months, and the numerous interviews and public events she participated in, with over 400 engagements.
Her contributions have earned her recognition from several prominent bodies. The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh appointed her as the brand ambassador for her initiative, while UNICEF has supported her financially. Himani’s incredible journey was further celebrated when she received the President’s Award for “Best Role Model of the Year.”
In her conversation with Amitabh Bachchan, Himani also complimented him, saying, “Your name is very influential, like the sun. Wherever you go, you radiate light.”
Her mission is far from over. Himani plans to revive her father’s business, which was severely impacted during the lockdown, using her winnings to secure the future of her family and the community she serves.
