NEW DELHI: Honda Cars India is set to make significant strides in the Indian automotive market with the introduction of three new SUV models by the fiscal year 2026-27. This move is aimed at capitalizing on the booming SUV segment in India. Currently, Honda’s SUV lineup in the country is limited to the Elevate, with the company also offering sedans like the Amaze and City.
Takuya Tsumura, President and CEO of Honda Cars India, confirmed that these new models would feature both hybrid and electric powertrains, aligning with the company’s global shift towards carbon neutrality. The Elevate SUV, launched earlier, is the first in Honda’s SUV portfolio in India, and it is expected to be joined by a pure-electric version soon. Honda is focusing on introducing five new SUVs by 2030, including a sub-4-meter SUV and a next-generation WR-V, which could significantly enhance its market presence.
With aspirations of achieving two-thirds of its vehicle sales from electric vehicles, Honda’s upcoming models are designed to meet growing consumer demands while supporting the global push for sustainability. As the company intensifies its efforts in the SUV and electric vehicle segments, it is poised for a competitive future in India’s fast-evolving automotive market.
