HONG KONG — On Saturday, Hong Kong witnessed its first-ever pyrotechnics drone show, drawing hundreds of spectators to Victoria Harbour. The 10-minute show, a blend of stunning visuals and fireworks, was part of a campaign aimed at raising awareness and support for panda conservation.
The event featured 1,000 drones, some equipped with fireworks, which flew gracefully above the harbor, forming intricate images of the city’s beloved giant pandas. One of the highlights was a 3D panda figure that rotated in the sky, mesmerizing the audience as fireworks lit up the night during key moments of the display.
Many eager viewers arrived early to secure the best spots for the highly anticipated event. Eddie Chow, a local father who attended with his two children, expressed excitement over the unique spectacle. “It was fantastic — combining fireworks and drones is a brilliant idea. Hong Kong should definitely host more of these events to attract tourists,” he said.
Others, like Jodi Hung, a Hong Kong resident in her 20s, were equally impressed by the show’s artistry. “The combination of art and technology was incredible,” Hung said, praising the show’s technical precision.
The pyrotechnic drone display was part of a broader series of panda-themed activities in Hong Kong, including exhibitions and a carnival. These events follow the recent gift of two giant pandas, An An and Ke Ke, from Beijing, bringing the total number of pandas in the city to six, all residing at Ocean Park.
