HSBC Showcases India’s Spirit Through the 23rd ‘Helping Hands Mela’ in Chennai

HSBC continued its long-standing tradition of community involvement with the 23rd edition of the Helping Hands Mela held at its Chennai branch on Cathedral Road. The exhibition was inaugurated by prominent personalities including Nina Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Savera Group; Kasi Viswanathan, Managing Director of Chennai Super Kings (CSK); film actor Vincent Asokan; and Muthukrishnan Ramanujam, Managing Director and Head of Financial Accounting, Global Finance at HSBC. Their presence reflected the growing connection between corporate initiatives and community welfare.

Ayshwarya Desikan, Executive Director and Regional Manager at HSBC, highlighted the dedication of staff volunteers who work closely with NGOs to ensure the success of the mela each year. She shared that the initiative reflects the bank’s broader mission supporting inclusive growth and empowering communities through meaningful engagement.

Each NGO booth represented a unique cause and showcased the skills of artisans, differently-abled individuals, and underprivileged women. The event not only provided them with a platform to display their talent but also helped raise funds to support their missions.

As part of its nationwide initiative, HSBC India will collaborate with 50 NGOs across 24 branches in 11 cities. The bank ensures that all proceeds from the sales at the mela go directly to the participating organisations, helping sustain their social and developmental activities.

The participating NGOs focus on a wide range of issues from palliative care and education for children with intellectual disabilities to mental health and sustainable livelihoods. By connecting these causes with the public, HSBC continues to strengthen the link between business responsibility and social impact.
