Breaking News

New Delhi: The probationers of three key central government services—Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES), Military Engineer Services (MES), and Central Water Engineering Service (CWES)—called on the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu today at Rashtrapati Bhavan. During the interaction, the President delivered an inspiring address emphasizing the importance of technological adoption, sustainable development, and national self-reliance across their respective domains.

Digital Integration Key to Modern Governance, Says President to IDES Officers

In her address to the IDES probationers, the President underlined the need to stay updated with rapid technological transformations that are reshaping governance and infrastructure management. She encouraged officers to integrate advanced digital tools such as:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Drone-based land surveys

  • Satellite imagery

  • Blockchain for property records

“These technologies are not futuristic anymore—they are increasingly becoming central to governance practices,” she said. President Murmu also urged the officers to champion green infrastructure practices in cantonments, embrace renewable energy solutions, reduce material wastage, and promote water conservation as essential responsibilities.

MES Probationers Urged to Build with Vision and Responsibility

Addressing the MES probationers, who will play crucial roles in military infrastructure development, the President emphasized that nation-building through construction should go hand-in-hand with sustainability and self-reliance. She urged them to:

  • Prioritize the use of renewable energy sources

  • Minimize the carbon footprint of defense projects

  • Support the Make in India initiative by promoting indigenous materials and technologies

She lauded the MES for aligning with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and encouraged the young officers to be both innovative and environmentally responsible in their approach.

CWES Officers Told to Lead India’s Water Security Mission

Speaking to the probationers of the Central Water Engineering Service, the President highlighted the strategic importance of sustainable water resource management in the face of climate change and increasing demand. She stated:

“Efficient water management is key to public health, agricultural productivity, and national sustainability.”

President Murmu commended the CWES officers for their critical role in designing and implementing engineering solutions for water infrastructure, which are essential to making the country more resilient against natural and man-made water crises. She urged them to ensure the equitable and sustainable use of water resources, which is vital for India’s long-term growth and stability.

A Call to Duty, Innovation, and Integrity

In conclusion, President Murmu reminded all officers of their duty to serve the nation with integrity, responsibility, and foresight. She noted that as future leaders in administration, construction, and water management, their actions would significantly shape India’s developmental path, especially in the context of climate adaptation, digital transformation, and self-reliant governance.

Their roles, she emphasized, are not just administrative—they are central to building a resilient, inclusive, and future-ready India.
