New Delhi: On September 16, 2025, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence, Skill Development, and Innovation at Graphic Era University in Dehradun. The centre features a state-of-the-art AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC) facility powered by NVIDIA’s DGX B200 system, marking the first such facility in Uttarakhand. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India and Skill India and aims to nurture future innovators and startups.
Cutting-Edge AI Infrastructure and Collaboration
The AI Centre spans approximately 1.5 lakh sq.ft. and includes an AI-HPC lab equipped with NVIDIA DGX B200 hosting 8 GPUs with 1.74 TB of memory. Also established is an Apple iOS Development Centre in collaboration with Apple and Infosys. These facilities will support research and innovation in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, environment, and smart cities. The centre positions Graphic Era as a national hub for cutting-edge technology and entrepreneurship.
Vision for Ethical AI and Human-Technology Integration
In his address, Dr. Jitendra Singh stressed the critical importance of integrity and ethical principles in using artificial intelligence. He highlighted that while AI holds tremendous potential to revolutionize sectors, it must be deployed responsibly to prevent misuse such as deepfakes and misinformation. Dr. Singh advocated a hybrid model combining AI with human judgment to complement, not replace, human intelligence, reinforcing the theme of ethical and accountable technology adoption.

The minister cited government-endorsed initiatives such as AI-enabled telemedicine vans bringing healthcare to remote villages, exemplifying AI’s role in enhancing governance and public service delivery.
