New Delhi, 4 September 2025 — Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal inaugurated the second edition of the India MedTech Expo 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The event, organized by the Department of Pharmaceuticals in association with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Export Promotion Council for Medical Devices (EPCMD), and Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), showcases India’s strength and innovation in the medical technology sector, attracting participation from over 30 countries and more than 150 international buyers.

GST Reforms: A Step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat

In his inaugural address, Shri Goyal lauded the recent GST reforms, terming them a significant milestone in India’s journey toward becoming an Atmanirbhar Bharat. He urged all Indians to unite in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, emphasizing inclusive and sustainable growth benefiting all sections of society.



Strengthening India’s MedTech Ecosystem through Collaboration

Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), highlighted the critical role of academia-industry collaboration to bolster India’s status as the “Pharmacy of the World.” ICMR’s initiatives like MedTech Mitra and Patent Mitra aim to foster partnerships between research institutions and industry to spur innovation.

Regulatory Reforms and Industry Growth

Dr. Rajiv Singh Raghuvanshi, Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), assured that regulatory reforms are geared towards making compliance lighter and execution stronger, positioning India as a global powerhouse for healthcare supplies. Shri Nitin Kumar Yadav, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry, emphasized ongoing efforts to reduce tariffs, harmonize regulations, and expand market access globally.

Expo Highlights and Global Participation

The three-day expo, themed “India: Global MedTech Manufacturing Hub – Precision Engineering yet Affordable,” features over 350 exhibitors, including MSMEs, startups, research institutions, and government bodies. It offers a platform for extensive networking through CEO roundtables, fireside chats, state displays, and reverse buyer-seller meets. Industry leaders acknowledge the sector’s projected growth from USD 15 billion to USD 30 billion by 2030, driven by strong R&D and a burgeoning manufacturing base.
