New Delhi, August 8, 2025 — Power Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar and Minister of State for Atomic Energy Dr. Jitendra Singh jointly convened a high-level meeting in Parliament House today to review and accelerate the ambitious 100 GW Nuclear Energy Mission, aimed at significantly expanding India’s clean energy capacity and meeting the nation’s Net Zero commitments.
Roadmap to Expand Nuclear Capacity
The meeting follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s directive to substantially increase India’s nuclear power output. The reviewed plan targets an increase from the current 8.8 GW to 22 GW by 2032, with 14 GW to be added from ongoing and upcoming projects.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh underscored the government’s landmark initiative to open the nuclear sector for private sector participation, describing it as a key move to strengthen India’s energy security.
