Key Outcomes: Defence Collaboration and Joint Initiatives
The leaders reviewed the progress of existing defence initiatives and identified priority areas for future cooperation. Opportunities for co-development and co-production of defence equipment, particularly in advanced systems, were explored. India offered its indigenous Akash air defence missile system and other platforms, underlining the countries’ intent to deepen joint research, co-production, and the trade of defence products.
Strengthening Military-to-Military Ties
Both sides committed to enhancing military-to-military exchanges—including joint exercises, training visits, and personnel exchanges—aimed at improving interoperability and mutual understanding. The ongoing dialogue builds on a robust defence cooperation agreement, institutionalized through regular meetings of the India-Brazil Joint Defence Committee and recent leadership exchanges.

India and Brazil, as large democracies and major global economies, highlighted the importance of their defence and security partnership for international peace and rule-based order. Discussions will continue at the Brazil-India defence industry dialogue scheduled next month in Santos, Brazil, with a focus on consolidating industrial partnerships and joint ventures in research, maintenance, and production. A recent MOU on defence industry dialogue is also in process, reflecting closer institutional ties.
