India and Israel Strengthen Strategic Defence Ties During High-Level Bilateral Meeting in New Delhi: July 2025

New Delhi: In a significant diplomatic and strategic engagement for Defence Ties, Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh held a bilateral meeting with Major General (Res) Amir Baram, Director General of the Israel Ministry of Defence, on July 23, 2025, in New Delhi. The meeting marks a crucial step in advancing the robust defence ties between the two nations and further strengthens the foundation for long-term strategic collaboration.

Strengthening Defence Ties

During the high-level talks, both India and Israel expressed strong commitment to enhancing bilateral defence cooperation with a forward-looking, long-term vision. The leaders agreed to work towards the development of a structured institutional framework aimed at deepening existing ties and expanding new areas of collaboration. The framework will focus on bolstering defence-industrial cooperation, joint development of advanced military technologies, and increased training and capacity-building exchanges.



Condemnation of Terrorism and Mutual Solidarity

The Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Defence, Major General Amir Baram, unequivocally condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and extended Israel’s full support to India in its fight against terrorism. He reaffirmed Israel’s solidarity with India in confronting all forms of extremism and cross-border threats.

In response, Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh reiterated India’s steadfast commitment to a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism. He condemned the brutal terrorist attacks that took place in Israel on October 7, 2023, and called for the immediate release of all hostages. Both sides recognized the need for continued global cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts and reiterated their shared values of peace, security, and sovereignty.

Review of Ongoing Collaborations

The bilateral meeting also involved a comprehensive review of the progress made since the last Joint Working Group (JWG) meeting held in India in July 2024. The discussion covered ongoing defence collaboration activities, including joint R&D projects, technology transfers, and strategic procurement initiatives. The officials expressed satisfaction over the pace of current engagements and identified key areas to further accelerate cooperation.

Significance of the Visit

The visit of DG Amir Baram to India is being viewed as a pivotal moment in Indo-Israeli defence relations. It reflects the shared intent of both nations to advance their strategic partnership in the face of evolving global security challenges.
